Back the Blue K9 Force is hosting our first annual 5k, raffle, and festival called Rexrun 2022 for Pawsitivity!! Back the Blue K9 Force is a local 501c3 that started in March 2016 and we help provide K-9 units with anything they need. We are all about the dogs!!! We help provide medical care, leather leads, rewards toys, scent boxes for training, protective vests, pop locks for the vehicles and so much more. BTBK9F has helped with K9 officers in local police departments such as Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office, Greenwood Village PD, Aurora PD, Lakewood PD, Sheridan PD, Parker PD, Canon City PD, Elbert County SO, and Simla PD. We have also helped K9’s in Missouri and Nebraska. The needs of our K9 units are growing fast and we need your help to keep these dogs happy, healthy, and safe.

Rexrun 2022 for Pawsitivity is going to be an all-day event at Dove Valley Regional Park on Saturday, August 6, 2022, from 8am to 3pm. Rexrun 2022 for Pawsitivity is going to have family and dog-friendly activities like (a bouncy house, scavenger hunt, DJ, raffle, dog costume contest, and food trucks). There will also be demonstrations from local K9 units. We need the community and businesses like yours to help make this a successful event. We are looking for items that we can use in a raffle, runner/walkers, sponsors, and/or vendors. There are 4 different sponsor levels to choose from starting at $500 and going up to $5,000. Vendors are $100 for a 10×10 spot. Any help is greatly appreciated. If you would like to contribute in any way there will be a link at the bottom of the page to do so.

Our event star is Rex, a black lab K9 officer, who is working with School Resource Officer Deputy John Gray. He is our first K9 therapy officer and is the inspiration for this event. Deputy Gray and K-9 Rex work with the children in the Littleton School District. They work primarily with students with special needs and students in crisis. Rex can help comfort students that are stressed, and dealing with anxiety or depression. “Mental health is an ongoing concern, particularly with our youth. There is a chemical change in the brain that reduces the stress when people pet and interact with a dog,” says Deputy Grey,“ We hope that Rex will help students feel comfortable and safe in schools and bring smiles to their faces.”

Registration for the 5K Run/Walk will open on May 1st. Mark your calendars! Our race fees are $45 from May 1st through May 31st, $50 from June 1st through July 31st, and $55 from August 1st through event day. You will be able to register online at www.backtheblueK-9force.com.
